PUBLICITY ANNOUNCEMENT FOR SNAKE AWARENESS WORKSHOP

The New Mexico Wildlife Center (NMWC) is again offering a snake education workshop in Eldorado (our 7th year!). This two hour training introduces residents to our native snakes and will instruct in how to identify friendly snakes and also our rattlesnakes. The behavior and value of snakes will be explained by Tom Wyant, the New Mexico snake expert and NMWC volunteer. This session is particularly instructional and exciting for children.

This spring’s session is scheduled for Saturday, April 28 from 9-11am at the Performance Space in La Tienda. Once again, the generosity of Steve Ewers and Destiny Allison have made the use of this space available to us. For more information on the Eldorado session, please contact Lyn deMartin at 603-0250. The session is free of charge (though a donation to the New Mexico Wildlife Center is appreciated). No need to RSVP.

Unable to attend the Eldorado session? The NMWC will offer the free workshop Saturday, May 19 from 1-3:00 the Center. Contact the Wildlife Center at 753-9505 to let them know you are coming.

Eldorado Snake Relocation Volunteers will receive updated training this spring. If you are a resident in the Eldorado area and would like a snake relocated from your property, you can call one of the following numbers to make your request. We hope after the workshop, though, you will welcome non-venomous snakes for the service they provide. Volunteers will ask for a donation for the New Mexico Wildlife Center (amount of your choosing) if they are dispatched to your address. If you would like information about being a volunteer, please contact  Lyn at 603-0250. Without volunteers, this service will no longer exist.
